Whispers in the Boughs

from Whispers in the Boughs by Fay Brotherhood

/

about

One from I think 1999 when I was but 15 and all enamoured with nature and paganism. I wrote it after spending an evening stood by myself at the edge of a wood just looking.

Then, 20 years later standing all evening by myself became my job. Funny that!

lyrics

Hear lord and lady,
Hear lord and lady,
Whispers in the boughs,
Hear lord and lady,
Hear lord and lady,
Whispers in the boughs,

As twilight falls,
In wonderment we fall.

Hear goddess sighing,
In winters silence,
Whispers in the boughs,
Whispers in the boughs,

Pale moon does rise forth
As sun dies on the breeze,
Whispers in the boughs,
Clear cool night takes the day,
The sunset soon shall fade,

Winter the God does die,
To be born anew in spring,
Now Goddess takes the throne,
See the beauty of the cold time,
The sunsets bright fire.

Hear lord and lady,
Hear lord and lady,
Whispers in the boughs,
The wood does grow now dark,
The lone crow flies on home.

Beauty unforeseen,
In the clear cold evening light,
Hear the songbirds hail the nights,
As the winter fox flies by as fire.

Now the equinox draws near,
From here on the sun god's born anew.
