Oh diamond of the starlit sky,
shine ever more o'er me,
Your light in beauty dazzles me -
fulfills a mortal dream.
Brilliant white in speckled night,
Upon her blue bed velvet,
A jewel indeed in fathers sleep,
Farewell your stories past.
Much you've seen in ages gone,
The times when legend reigned,
Men made mad and women more,
The hare upon your face.
Through every dance- each druids chant,
The soul song of a bard,
They sought their blessings through the stones,
'neathe your maternal gaze.
The shadows of these legends old,
Once danced here in this circle,
They dance here still tween hallowed stones,
Strange ghosts in the moonlight.
Their souls fed by thine memories,
Of ages past and new,
Watched acorn to the sapling,
To old oak buckled wise.
Far and wide the mother watches,
O'er the land laid dark,
For these twelve hours she shall nourish,
All in white enchant.
A fairy tale maiden she,
A Goddess of the dark time,
Guide the cycles, set the tide,
each month she bids us come.
But now upon horizon,
The gleam of fire is rising,
The father wakes to bring new day,
To set her seed a'light,
The barley turns to finest gold,
In pleasure at her calling,
The night vigil of ancient moon,
Is over for this day.
Beneath the skyline she now sinks
As twilight comes elsewhere,
Beneath the skyline she now sinks
As twilight comes elsewhere
